Setting up Thunderbird with IMAP
(Using the IMAP protocol downloads all e-Mail's from server to your localen computer - all e-Mail's stay on the server too. Recommended when you need your e-Mail's on multiple devices like computer, mobile phone, tablet.
Keep an eye on your assigned storage space on the server!.)
On the first start of Thunderbird the setup wizard should start automatically.
If it doesn't start or you want to setup an additional e-Mail account you can do that by selecting Local Folders on the left and then click the Email button on the right.
Or via the File Menu > New > Existing Mail Account.
Enter your full name and e-Mail credentials and click continue.
After entering the correct username and password, Thunderbird should identify the correct mail-server settings.
Change the Protocol from POP3 to IMAP.
Click on Configure manually… to change the Authentication from Encrypted password
to Normal password and then click Done.
(Normal password within a secure connection to mail-server.cc encrypts your login, your password and the whole of your message which is more secure then just using encrypted passwords via unsecured connections.)
You are done!
